Hi Steve:
We do have a little more harvesting to go. When the water level got around 4.5 feet the harvester could not get to all the areas it needed to. Now that the last rain event brought the lake up we are in the cue to finish. Probably won’t be for 3-4 weeks though and will only last one week at most. Yes we are still in the works to construct the storm water treatment facilities up there, but it probably won’t begin till late spring. We had to redesign a few things. Additionally, we advertised to hire a consultant to begin designing the lake dredging project so that is new.
I am currently working with an Eagle Scout candidate on replanting the Park Blvd shoreline. This will include installing ~50 good size live oaks. Then in the spring we will get in the water and plant the aquatic species. Glad the canal is better. There was a flow problem at the 86th Av bridge. Highway came in with a long arm and cleared the area around the pilings and under the bridge and that is when things started to get better. I have a feeling the same thing will happen with the lake once a slow, but steady stream of clean water is coming in.
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. I ate too much and slept in too late!! Happy Holidays J Kelli

Kelli,
I would like to publish an update on the Lakeside and Lake Park web sites regarding the county's plans for Lake Seminole in 2007. We're glad that the steady stream of trucks along Tradewinds has ended. Any more harvesting in the plan? What about the planned construction of a treatment facility and pumping station at the North end to route treated water from the Lake Seminole Bypass Canal into the lake? The canal is looking pretty good by the way - thanks for that!
I hope you and yours had a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy a wonderful Christmas Holiday.
